As we all know the residence halls are named by their floor numbers, such as first Williams or second Morris. My room is located on third Bill, also known as third Williams. I have heard that other halls have had problems and tension. However, I have not had this experience on third Bill. Though we rarely abide by quiet hours, few of us feel any animosity towards each other. Some of us keep to ourselves, but for the most part we are all at least friendly, if not friends.
Being placed in a situation where I was forced to either befriend the girls around me or be without a companion for months at a time has been good for me. I have found that if I actually give it a try I can overlook small flaws and biases and focus on aspects about a person that I do enjoy. I am a good judge of personality and I utilize that here. I have made several close friends and quite a few acquaintances. I am not sure that any of them will extend beyond college or even a year, but there is time to think about that later. For now I will just enjoy my year.

Studying...
I went to the library. Scary place... It is so unbelievably quiet. I tried looking around for a while and getting used to it and the place just freaked me out. The writing center is easy to get to and pretty convenient. As far as studying goes... That's funny. I have tried studying everywhere on this campus. I have tried my room. I have gone to the library. I sat outside at one of the tables for a while. I have spent time in the study room at the end of the hall. After doing all of that I discovered that my studying has very little to do with where I am. It has everything to do with my frame of mind. If studying is what I really want and need to do, I can block out any outside noise and do what I need to do. I can study outside... I can study in the library... I can study in my room or the dorm lobby or the student center or on a bus or a plane. It is all up to me and nothing else... And once you look at it you can see that this is really much worse than needing a specific place, because if I am unable to get myself in the right frame of mind, then no matter where I am, I will not be able to study. It is a bit of a predicament.

24 hours of Honesty
I can't say that twenty-four hours of not telling anyone a lie was all that difficult for me. I am sure almost everyone has heard the saying "the truth hurts." That's policy I try to live by, which usually gives me the reputation of being brutally honest. Some things have to be softened if they are too hurtful, but it is still important to be honest. As for why I find it important in a collegic setting? Well, I have been in the situation I am sure many can relate to, whether they were on the receiving end or the supplying end. It is that position of having been given an assignment and seeing at least five people in the class turn and look at you because they know that you will not have any problem at all with it. Now it may not play out that way exactly in college, but most of us know that feeling. Who enjoys it? Not me. If you can make it through this phase of your life on your own intelligence, knowing it is your work that got you that got you this far, it will be one of the greatest accomplishments of your life. The confidence boost is unimaginable at this point for me. Not to mention the security of the knowledge that you can handle just about any job in your field of study. But maybe that's just me.

Involvement
I don't plan on joining many organizations this year. I'm saving that for my later years of college. I'm curious about several of them. However, many of them are religious or leadership based. I'm not really interested in either of those things right now. That does sound quite a bit like how my interests went in high school. I might look at the synchronized swimming but that would be about it other than the International Converse Girls club committee thing.

Blog Entry #1
Well, I expect my first semester of college to be an eye-opener. I'm sure that my already tightwad habits will only get worse once I'm relying on my own money for groceries and such. The roommate factor is actually something I have already gotten used to even though I've had a room to myself for over ten years. I will miss my cats a lot, I miss them already. I also expecet to be exhausted and unbelievably stressed out, but that's because I'm always tired and stressed. I expect to procrastinate. I expect to fall behind on laundry. I expect forget homework. I expect to get in trouble for certain dorm behaviors, such as being loud in the quiet hours. I expect to have to buy more clothes. I expect to find a kitten I want and whine and complain when I can't have it. I expect to throughly embarrass myself and laugh just as hard as everyone else when I do it. I expect to break another bone out of sheer stupidity and clutziness. I expect to turn at least one load of clothing pink. I expect to gain dthe freshmen 15 times three. I expect to have a better experience than I expect to.
